Completion of the 16 hour Illinois Concealed Carry Class is necessary to apply for a Concealed Carry License in the state of Illinois. This curriculum is comprised of the required course material established by the Illinois State Police.

What to expect:

  • Day One

The first day of class is a lecture covering basic firearm handling and safety rules, basic principles of marksmanship, safe firearms storage, different types of ammunition, and more. Students will also handle different types of pistols, learn to load magazines, and practice dry firing with a S.I.R.T. (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) pistol.

Students are encouraged to bring something to take notes with, snacks, beverages, and a lunch.

  • Day Two

We will meet at the range (location TBD) at 9am for range qualifications. Students will be tested on their ability to safely and accurately operate a pistol. There is a 30 round test: 10 rounds @ 5 yards, 10 rounds @ 7 yards, and 10 rounds @ 10 yards. Students must score a minimum of 21 out 30 shots to pass. Students must pass the range test to complete the Concealed Carry course. Two attempts will be allowed. If a student is unable to pass they will have to schedule a retest and a $50 fee will be assessed.

-Range fee is not included in the course price. Please bring $22 cash to Day 1 of class to streamline the check-in process at the range on Day 2.

-Students are encouraged to use their own pistols for the range test. Bring 50-100 rounds of ammunition.

-Students without FOID cards are welcome to attend the class, but must be 21 years of age or older.

-Students without FOID cards will be required to rent a firearm through the instructor. A rental fee will be assessed.

After the range test, we will meet back at the classroom location to finish out the lecture portion of class.
